The Spirit of the Holiday giving season has brought my attention to a small, little known (but growing) non profit organization called "Let's Bring Em Home".
As you will see by browsing the below links, this non profit organization solicits donations in order to provide junior members of the Military an opportunity to fly home for the Holidays. The lower ranks of the military survive on pay of only a few hundred bucks every two weeks and a five hundred to a thousand dollar plane ticket to make it home for the holidays becomes an instant burden that many cannot afford.
To be clear, this organization does not bring soldiers back from the war zone for the Holidays, rather the goal of 'Let's Bring Em Home' is to bring home those young Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines that are based at various locations around the Country and the globe.
As we're dishing out donations to our favorite Holiday Season charities, I think that it's also worth remembering our young military members; after all, they're willing to put their lives on the line for us, so allowing them the opportunity to make it home for the Holidays is the least we can do.
Next year could be different; these same Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines may be deployed somewhere where a plane ticket home is not an option.
Let's give those that can make it this year the option to make it home.
